More than one kiddo? These attach to the stroller you already have so you can get your family on the go.
If you have two (or more) kids but don’t want to purchase a double stroller to accommodate them both, it’s time to consider a stroller board.
Also known as buggy boards, gliders, and ride-on boards, stroller boards look a bit like a skateboard or scooter, with a flat wooden or plastic surface on wheels. The board attaches right to your existing stroller to create a streamlined, comfortable and safe tag-along tool for your tot. Many also work with double strollers, so if you already have one, you can accommodate three kids with one stroller!
When shopping for your stroller board, keep in mind that some brands offer universal connectors that allow them to be attached to any stroller, while others are made just to work with a particular type or brand of stroller. Also, consider that each board will have its own specifications when it comes to age or weight—important to note for safety and functionality.
Ready for a stroller board? Here are eight solid bets that will have your kiddos on the go in no time.
Universal Stroller Board
Compatible with more than 99 percent of strollers, the BuggyBoard Maxi is a sturdy, three-wheeled plastic ride-on stroller board that holds kids from ages two to five, and up to 66 lbs Its universal adapter allows it to be attached quickly, easily and securely, and removed just as simply for use with additional strollers (with additional connectors). You can also purchase a Maxi Board Saddle seat, so your child can sit facing the grownup if they’d prefer. And when it’s not in use, both the saddle and the board itself can retract via a strap that will keep it stashed and secure. (The BuggyBoard Mini offers the same streamlined functionality—up to 66 lbs, too!—for most lightweight or umbrella strollers.)
Two-in-One Stroller Board
Mountain Buggy is known for sturdy, hyper-functional strollers, meant for families on the go. So it’s no surprise that their version of the stroller board is solid, streamlined and super easy to attach and use. What is surprising? The Mountain Buggy Freerider stroller board also works as a freestanding scooter, complete with rear brakes and light-up wheels, for your toddler—offering double the functionality with just a literal flip of the wheel. Plus, it’ll hold kids up to 110 lbs, which means this stroller board-turned-scooter is in it for the long haul.
Stroller Board for a Higher Ride
A universal stroller board that’s compatible with about 99 percent of strollers on the market, the Hitch is easy to install with the included connector. Meant for kids from ages two to five and up to 62 lbs, the guzzie+Guss offers a higher placement for your tot, which has grateful parents noting that they don’t kick the board as they’re pushing the stroller.
The UppaBaby Stroller Board
Sleekly designed out of wood and plastic, the Uppababy Vista Piggyback Board—meant for use specifically with the Uppababy Vista stroller from 2015 or later—is an easy-on stroller board that attaches quickly. Meant for tots up to 55 lbs, it also lifts away when not in use, and folds with the stroller, to make your life on the go as streamlined and simple as possible. (If you own the Cruz, another popular UppaBaby stroller, there’s a piggyback board for that model, too.)
The Baby Jogger Stroller Board
If you’re a Baby Jogger fan, this is the stroller board for you! Meant to hold children up to 45 lbs, the Baby Jogger Glider is compatible with the City Mini 2, City Mini GT2, City Select and City Select Lux. Made of plastic with an easy-on connector that attaches to the rear axle of the stroller, it’s lightweight and flips out of the way when not in use.
The Bumbleride Stroller Board
Made of eco-friendly wood with plastic wheels, and compatible with the Bumbleride Indie and the Indie Twin strollers, this skateboard-style rider clamps on easily to the rear axle of the stroller and offers a wide, sturdy and slip-resistant platform for your child, supporting kids up to 44 lbs. When it’s not in use, it’s easy to remove and stash away, but you can’t fold your stroller with it attached.
The BabyZen Yoyo Stroller Board
The BabyZen Yoyo is known as one of the lightest, most versatile full-featured strollers around, so it should come as no surprise that the BabyZen Yoyo Board attachment is similarly stylish, easy and portable. It holds kids up to 44 lbs, offers a single-click attachment and two different travel options—the standing board or saddle-style seating, so your kiddo will be comfortable no matter which mode they prefer. (Because, as you know, that’ll change from minute to minute!)
The Joovy Sit-and-Stand Stroller Board
If the idea of a stroller board makes you a bit uneasy, then the Joovy Caboose sit-and-stand stroller is a great option. It’s a compact but full-featured stroller that offers all-wheel suspension, a deep recline, ample storage, and a built-in boogie board, so your child can be towed with no attachments necessary. The stroller seat and board each support up to 45 lbs, and the stroller are compatible with many car seats! Add on the rear seat option to transform the board into a proper seat for your tot, too.
